Happy Monday everyone! This month’s edition of What to Wear features a dash of pink, green, and yellow which is perfect with the spring season right around the corner. I hope to see some of these colors at my Swing into Spring Mini Sessions that will be taking place at the Dallas Arboretum a month from now! I can’t wait!

Oh Texas, you’re hot one minute and cold the next. Make up your mind already geez! On Sunday it was beautiful, sunny, 70 ish. Just look outside the window today… wintery mix, windy, and 25 ish. Booo! I am ready for sunshine, shorts, flip flops, and COLOR!

Speaking of color, I saw O.P.I.’s new Texas themed spring nail polish collection that’s being released this month and just had to share. I love bright colors on my toes. Once these toes see the light of day again, you bet that this Texas girl will be wearing some “Y’all Come Back Ya Hear?” I can’t help but wonder what it must be like to have the occupation of naming nail polish colors. I hope you are all having a Merry and Bright December! “What should I wear?” is the number one most common question that I am asked when booking sessions. Well, I am here for you my friend! I will be posting monthly style inspiration boards that include outfits for the whole family right here on my blog starting NOW! Enjoy!

On Saturday morning, I woke up at 5:15 a.m. {I’m not a morning person.. trust me}, got ready, drank a Blue Monster {my fav energy drink}, loaded up some Halloween Props and drove to my first in studio Fashion Shoot in Dallas, TX. I’m not going to lie, I was a little nervous about my first in studio shoot and working with new lighting but I really like the results! The parents were so nice and helpful during the shoot and all the little models totally rocked their outfits! We only had a few tears which went away at the idea of getting a sucker! It’s funny, I never know if the kids will laugh, dance, sing, cry, run away, or throw my pumpkins at me. They are all so different and unique and it was fun for me to get to know their personalities during the photo shoot.

In my spare time, I somehow find myself on Etsy looking at shop after shop, drooling over all of the fabulous items that people make. I wish I was patient enough to make things! I would love to learn to knit, sew and make bows (maybe someday). A common question I get when scheduling and planning sessions is, “What should I wear to my session?” One day, I hope to have an entire Live. Laugh. Photograph. style guide available to you. For now, I will share a few basic tips!

• Go bold or go home! I love bold colors and really hope you don’t show up to your photography session wearing matching white shirts. To be honest, that’s really not my style and if that’s what your vision is for your photos then we might not be the best match. Matching white shirts = BORING! I always tell people to coordinate colors by wearing outfits that are in the same color family.
• Add layers to yourself. Layering is a great way to bring in other colors, patterns and fabrics. Look around your closet and pull out that old orange scarf!
• Accessorize and add details! Wear tasteful jewelry, interesting shoes, hats, etc.
• Stay away from Logos!
• Little girls look super cute in pettiskirts, tutus, and giant bows.
• Rock your little boy out in vintage tee and converse shoes.
• Wear something you feel good in!
