Words just can’t express how much I just adore Kelly and Brendan. After meeting them at a local Starbucks last year, we instantly connected and I really enjoyed hearing their story about how they met through online dating. I must say that they gave 110% during their engagement session. They were patient, completely open minded and they were certainly up for any crazy idea that I had which always makes for a successful session. The end result is a wide variety of unique poses and candid interactions that hopefully show off their unique connection and love for one another. On a side note, The Cotton Mill in McKinney never disappoints when it comes to engagement and wedding location options in the DFW area. I am SUPER excited to photograph their wedding day at The Cotton Mill in March so stay tuned.

I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in April!

I’m super pumped to post images from Allison and David’s engagement session. David and I went to Wylie High School together, where we were in the same PALS (Peer Assistance and Leadership Skills) class and hung out with a lot of the same friends. I never would have guessed then that I would be shooting his engagement session and upcoming wedding now. I’m so happy and thankful that he has found the girl of his dreams, and that they made a special trip to Dallas so that I could shoot their engagements at Mockingbird Station & White Rock Lake! After spending time with them at starbucks, shooting their session, and listening to their story, I could not be more excited for their fun-loving and adventurous relationship to blossom! Congrats to you both my friends!

I have been in contact with Katy since October 2010 planning her engagement session and discussing details of her upcoming June wedding. Lots of e-mails, a few phone conversations, and months later I was thrilled to finally meet Katy and Jason face to face. I felt like I had known them for years!

Katy and Jason actually went to high school together but it wasn’t until after they graduated that they started dating. I bet Katy never dreamed in school that Jason would one day get down on one knee in the middle of the Fort Worth Stockyards and ask her to be his wife!

It was a SUPER busy day at the Fort Worth Stockyards the day of their engagement shoot, not to mention, my very first time shooting on-location there. I was able to find SO many neat places to shoot and felt like the country vibe really fit their style well. Can’t wait to go back again.

I recently attended my very first DFW Shootout and had a BLAST! For those of you who may not be aware of what a shootout is, I will fill you in.  In this case, it was a collaboration of extremely talented wedding vendors and photographers that came together to mix, mingle, and shoot! I had the privilege of photographing Ebony of Ebony Peoples Events and Design and her husband Jovan. They were so natural and comfortable in front of the camera. Their session was full smiles, laughter and the color pink!

Happy Monday everyone! I’m kicking off this brand new and fabulous week with a new product for all of my bride and grooms. Introducing Wedding Websites created by Live. Laugh. PHOTOGRAPH. According to statistics something like 57% of brides have a wedding website. Most of which are probably free wedding websites from Wedding Wire or The Knot. What I’m offering has a bit of a different twist. More of a creative flair featuring photos from your engagement shoot. I can customize your music, colors, photos, story, wedding details, personal registry information, etc. as an extension of my brand/website. The sky is the limit so use your imagination and let’s get creative! The best part is that I will now be offering these fun sites standard with all of my engagement shoots (maybe even Senior shoots as well but I’m not there yet).

I can’t even express how much I loved shooting this session! I love love. I love engagements and I love Shelby + Jonathan (I say that in the most non-creepy kind of way). I shot their engagement session on a cold December day in the historic downtown McKinney, TX square. They were so much fun to work with and I really enjoyed all of their in between moments. They are such a genuine couple and I could not be more happy for them. They are busy busy planning a wedding, building a house, and working full time! How exciting! I just know that Shelby will be a beautiful April bride! Congrats to you both!

Before I get to the oh so fabulous engagement that I’m about to post, here is my food for thought. Today I was reading Oprah’s “What I Know for Sure” article in O and I felt that I really connected with what she wrote.

“We’re all called. If you’re here breathing, you have a contribution to make to our human community. The real work of your life is to figure out your function-your part in the whole-as soon as possible, and then get about the business of fulfilling it as only you can.” At the end of the article she closes with, “What I know for sure: There is no greater gift you can give or receive than to honor your calling. It’s why you were born. And how you become most alive.” -Oprah

I strongly feel that I have discovered my calling, it will probably come as no surprise to you when I tell you that I feel my calling is Photography. I am really enjoying my first year in business and have learned so so much. Its like I’ve finally found the shoes for my life that fit just right! I have been thinking heavily of ways I can give back and contribute to our community in a way that would make me feel most alive. I found two organizations through friends that literally brought me to tears and touched my heart. The first is Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep and the second is the Tiny Sparrow Foundation. I have applied to both organizations with the hopes of getting accepted to at least one. They are both so special and I feel being a photographer for either organization would truly fulfill my desire to give back using my calling. Hope and pray with me that I will get accepted to the right organization that I could help the most. As Oprah said in her article honoring your calling is why you were born and how you become most alive. I could not agree with you more Oprah! I’m sharing this with you because I think that living your calling is life changing and want to encourage you to do the same thing! I will be sure and update you guys when I hear back on the applications.

Now onto Angie and Damon’s engagement session that I shot at The Old Red Courthouse and John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza in downtown Dallas. If you follow me on facebook then you probably saw my update about shooting an engagement session with someone I went to Kindergarden with. Yep that’s right, Angie and I were in the same Kindergarden class. I remember sitting on the floor on top of tape that was in the form of letters in Ms. Wilson’s class at Hartman Elementary School in Wylie, TX like it was yesterday. Who knew I would be doing her engagement photos 18 years later. I am so happy I did! Engagements are totally my thing! I LOVE them! One of the first things they told me when describing their style is that they weren’t fun. Pshhhh! Everyone likes to have a little fun and I know Angie well enough to know her fun side! I feel I brought the fun out in them and somehow managed to talk them into running through the water fountain in the middle of the plaza toward the end of the session. That’s my job right? To make the session memorable and to bring the fun emotions out in people.

Meet the most funny, adorable, and SWEET couple! Madison and Sky were such a JOY to work with. They were totally themselves and very relaxed in front of the camera. I really enjoyed the fact that they just carried on conversations and played with each other as if I wasn’t even there. This allows me to capture real moments without having to pose and set up every photo. They are both currently in college and have arranged for their wedding to be in the same month as Sky’s graduation!

Just give me beautiful subjects, an open field of green grass, a red barn, friendly horses and some paint and I’m one happy photographer…
