You guys know I don’t shoot very many family sessions these days but I always make room in my schedule for loyal clients that have been with me from the very beginning. This family is very special and I always have so much fun shooting their photography sessions. Meet the Sokolash Family! I recently photographed them at the Historic Downtown McKinney Square. We had lots of fun walking, talking, and exploring with the kiddos. Aren’t they the cutest? >> THIS << was the day my sister-in-law Carlie told our entire family she was 5 months pregnant! It was a really exciting day for our entire family! Immediately following Christmas, I starting planning a trip to New York City to take Scarlett’s newborn photos. We also did lots of tourist stuff as well >> HERE << but the highlight of the trip was meeting my new niece and hanging out with our awesome family. Since I was in NYC a full 7 days, I got to work completely around Scarlett’s schedule. Whereas most of my shoots only last 45 – 90 minutes, I would sometimes wait that long just for Scarlett to fall asleep. Family gets special treatment! Once we got her nice and sleepy, she was absolutely perfect.

Photographing her brought back memories of my tiny baby girls which kind of sort of made me want another one. *Sigh* For now, I’ll just stick to photographing them. I just can’t believe how fast it goes by! Today, I took my oldest daughter to her kindergarden story time/introduction. I can’t believe kindergarden is right around the corner! It just doesn’t seem possible, it seems as if yesterday she too was a newborn. I feel like I’m living out that country song by Kenny Chesney, Don’t Blink!

Congrats to Carlie + Dustin! Your sweet baby girl is such a blessing and I just love her dearly!

First off, I would like to say that I hope you all had a blessed Easter Weekend. Easter just so happened to fall on my 24th birthday yesterday which was exciting. I must say I am now feeling a little sick after eating both chocolate bunnies and birthday cake on the same day!

Meet my younger brother Cody, his beautiful daughter Elizabeth and fabulous girlfriend Meaghan. I recently met up with them at The Dallas Arboretum for a little photo fun. I just can’t believe how much E has grown since the last time I photographed her >> HERE <<. Where does the time go?

I recently spent a full day shooting Spring Mini Sessions at the The Dallas Arboretum and had a fabulous time getting to hang out with both old and new clients. Check out photos of The McCrary Family. They actually purchased two mini sessions back to back. One for their family and one for their oldest daughter that is currently a senior. You all know how much I love working with families and seniors! Win/Win! Here is a fun fact, Angie, a.k.a. Coach McCrary was my Junior High Athletics coach back in the day. Actually, it wasn’t that long ago. It was so much fun to see her again and catch up. Enjoy!

Meet the Nix family! They were such a neat family to get to know and I’m so HAPPY that I had the opportunity to work with them. Their son Conner is a creative one himself. He’s into arts, music, karate, and funny movies! He was very natural in front of the camera.. I barely had to help pose him. Which is a good thing, because I would rather try and capture my subject in their own element. For some reason, Conner reminded me a little of Greyson Chance. A 13 year old singer that I saw on the ellen show. Now, I’m not sure if Conner can sing or not but he certainly had the same charisma about him. I couldn’t help but add Greyson’s song Waiting Outside the Lines to their slideshow at the bottom of the post!

Happy Monday everyone! This month’s edition of What to Wear features a dash of pink, green, and yellow which is perfect with the spring season right around the corner. I hope to see some of these colors at my Swing into Spring Mini Sessions that will be taking place at the Dallas Arboretum a month from now! I can’t wait!

I was 16 going on 17 and he was 17 going on 18. It was our first official date. I remember being cold in the front seat of his old Volvo on our way to The Cheesecake Factory and just a little bit nervous as any girl would be. He was being just a little on the quiet side which we now joke about all the time. So, I did what anyone would do to fill the awkward silence on a first date. I asked obvious questions to get him talking. One of the first questions I asked was how many brothers and sisters do you have? It caught me by surprise when he said oh I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and of course he had to add that he was in the middle! On that first date, I never imagined that asking that question would lead to 7 years of being apart of a wonderful and growing family that I love and care for so deeply.

As the years have gone by it seems the more we have all spread out. From New York City , Austin, Dallas, Rexberg to Zillah The Swallow Family is all over the map! Obviously, it was a very special occasion for us all to be together on Christmas day. You know what special occasions call for? A photo shoot of course!

I am SO blessed to not only have married my best friend but to have married into such an awesome family! Even though we are far apart we are close at heart!

Meet The Linn Family! I drove to their home WAY….. out in the country to photograph their session. Although I’m more of a city girl, I have to admit that I like getting away sometimes. It’s relaxing to shoot in the middle of an open field in the middle of no where. You really can’t go wrong with just using a simple open field as the backdrop for your photos. These kiddos were so so awesome to work with and even better they got to miss school for their photo shoot! That just had to give me some extra “cool” points as the photographer!  Oh and I like the dedication Mom!
